This piece is an exploration of shape and possibility with clay. Clay is one of my favorite mediums of all time. It feels incredibly soothing to be able to sculpt again after a few years off.
This sculpture, for me, is reminiscent of a chapter book in stature and story. It stands on a loose rectangular prism, like a book does on its spine. From there it begins to fold into twists and turns of curious openings.
It is a very pleasant piece to hold in hand or to see sitting across the room. It makes for a fantastic accent by blending well into many scenes, but also stands apart in uniqueness.
